QuestBridge winners head to U. of C.
Attending college is a numbers game. How much money is tuition? How many scholarships can you get to bring the price down? How much money is room and board?
Fortunately for four seniors, that number is zero. John “Jack” Villegas, Ayesha Siddiqui, Araceli Martinez, and Paul Alves will attend the University of Chicago, located in the Hyde Park neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side for free through QuestBridge.
The QuestBridge program offers National College Match Scholarships that cover the full cost of tuition, room and board to low-income students. The scholarships are loan-free and do not require parental contribution.
The QuestBridge website states their mission is to creating “a world where America’s leadership encompasses thoughtful and broad-minded decision-makers drawn from every economic segment of society.”
High school seniors can apply for the National College Match starting in August.
According to the College and Career Center website, the application requires information about academics and financial background, three essays, short answers questions, letters of recommendation and test score reports.
