Ted Cruz

Born December 22, 1970, he is the junior United States Senator from Texas. Elected in 2012 as a Republican, he is the first Hispanic or Cuban American to serve as a U.S. Senator from Texas. Cruz also identifies with the Tea Party. He was born in Calgary, Canada and attended Princeton University and Harvard Law School.

ABORTION: Pro-Life

“No right is more precious and fundamental than the right to life, and any just society should protect that right at every stage, from conception to natural death.” – Cruz said in a statement issued on the 40th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade (Jan. 22, 2013)

Cruz was part of the team that successfully defended the Partial Birth Abortion act in 2003, outlawing late term abortions.

IMMIGRATION: Does not support reform

Cruz does not support President Obama’s Executive Order on Immigration. He supports “strengthening border security, expand green card opportunities, increase high-skilled visas, preventing illegal aliens from receiving welfare benefits, and enforce the rule of law.”

“Immigrants deserve a better system in which they will be welcomed to the United States safely and with dignity.”

MINIMUM WAGE:  Does not support a raise

“The undeniable truth is if the president succeeded in raising the minimum wage, it would cost jobs from the most vulnerable.”

Born January 7, 1963, he is an American physician and politician. In office since 2011, Paul currently serves as a United States Senator from Kentucky. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and attended Baylor University and Duke University School of Medicine.

ABORTION: Pro-Life

“In general, I am pro-life. So I will

support legislation that advances and shows that life is special and deserves

protection.” – Said in an interview with the Associated Press in 2010.

IMMIGRATION: Supports reform after the border is secured

“What I want to do first is secure the border….What we want is more legal immigration, so we have less illegal immigration. But I am open to immigration reform.” – Said on CBS’s Face the Nation in 2015.

MINIMUM WAGE: Does not support a raise

Born May 28, 1971, he is the junior United States Senator from Florida, serving since January 2011. A member of the Republican Party, he previously served as Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. A Cuban American born in Miami, Florida, Rubio attended the University of Florida and the University of Miami Law School.

ABORTION: Pro-life

“I personally believe that life begins at conception and all human life is worthy of protection.” – Said in an interview with Katie Couric in 2015.

IMMIGRATION: Supports reform

“We have a broken enforcement system on immigration. We have a legal immigration system that’s outdated and needs to be modernized so we can win the global competition for talent. We have millions of people living in this country illegally, many of whom have been here for a decade or longer. We need to find a reasonable but responsible way of incorporating them into American life.” – Said on CBS’s Face the Nation in Sept. 2014

Born Sept. 6, 1954 in Austin, Texas she is the chairwoman of the American Conservative Union

Foundation, the Unlocking Potential Project, Good360 and Opportunity International. Fiorina was the first woman to lead a Fortune 50 business. Fiorina also served as an advisor to John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign. She attended Stanford University,

University of Maryland, and MIT.

ABORTION: Pro-Life

“I absolutely would vote to overturn Roe v. Wade if the opportunity presented itself.” – The New Yorker reported.

IMMIGRATION: Does not support reform

Believes the government needs to secure the border and should not grant amnesty to the immigrants currently living in the United States illegal.

MINIMUM WAGE: Does not support a raise

“The sad truth is that raising the minimum wage will hurt those who are looking for entry-level jobs.”

Born September 18, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan, he is a retired professor and neurosurgeon as well as the author of six bestselling books. Carson has been given numerous awards for his public services and medical achievements including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2008. He attended Yale University and University of Michigan Medical School.

ABORTION: Pro-Life

“My entire professional life has been devoted to saving and enhancing lives. Thus, the thought of abortion for the sake of convenience does not appeal to me.”

IMMIGRATION: Supports reform

“We must create a system that disincentives illegal immigration and upholds the rule of law while providing us with a steady stream of immigrants from other nations who will strengthen our society.” – Carson wrote in a blog for National Review.

Born August 24, 1955, he served as the Governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007. He was a candidate in the 2008 United States Republican presidential primaries. Huckabee is the author of several bestselling books, an ordained Southern Baptist minister, a musician, and a public speaker. He is also a political commentator on his radio show, The Huckabee Report. Huckabee ran for the Republican nomination in 2008 but lost to John McCain.

ABORTION: Pro-Life

IMMIGRATION: Does not support reform

Huckabee claims that if elected he will secure the border in 18 months. He does not want to provide a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants but he does want to provide citizenship to immigrants children because “you don’t punish a child for something his parents did.”

MINIMUM WAGE: Undecided

Huckabee has not given a straight yes or no answer on if he would vote to raise the minimum wage or not. “instead of fighting over the minimum wage, I’ll focus on solutions to help every American earn his or her maximum wage.”

Born May 10, 1958 he served as a United States Senator representing Pennsylvania from 1995–2007. He ran a for the republican nomination in 2012 and  finished second to the eventual Republican nominee Mitt Romney. He attended Pennsylvania State University, University Park, and the University of Pittsburgh.

ABORTION: Pro-life

IMMIGRATION: Does not support reform

Santorum wants to secure the border before anything else is done, until that is done he encourages illegal immigrants to “self-deport” or voluntarily leave the country and then re-enter legally.

“The bottom line is that we need to enforce the laws in this country.” – Said on CNN in 2012 debate

MINIMUM WAGE: Does support a raise

“I’ve proposed a 50 cents an hour raise per year for three years.”

Born June 24, 1945 he is a lawyer and politician. He served as the Governor of New York from 1995-2006. He attended Yale

University and Columbia Law School.

ABORTION: Pro-Choice

Pataki has identified as pro-choice but he does not like talking about social issues.

“Defeating Islamic terrorists, shrinking government, growing the economy — these are the issues that matter most.” – Said in a 30 second ad obtained by CNN. “These are the issues that matter most. Instead we’re debating social issues like abortion and gay rights.”

Although he does support abortion and gay rights.

IMMIGRATION: Supports reform

“I believe it’s totally unrealistic if we think we’re going to take 11 million people and send them back where they came from.” However, he strongly opposes President Obama’s executive order

MINIMUM WAGE: Does not support a raise

“Raising the minimum wage will not solve the problems of poverty and unemployment.” – Said in an interview with Matt Miller on “Bloomberg Rewind.”

DEMOCRATS:

Born Oct. 26, 1947 she is a former United States Secretary of State, serving under President Barack Obama; a former United States Senator and, as the wife of President Bill Clinton, was First Lady of the United States. Clinton also ran for the Democratic Party’s nomination in the 2008 presidential election. She is from Park Ridge, Illinois and attended Wellesley College and Yale Law School.

ABORTION: Pro-Choice

IMMIGRATION: Supports reform

MINIMUM WAGE: Supports a raise

Clinton voted to raise the national minimum wage in 2007 and backed a bill which said Congress should not get a salary increase until minimum wage was increased.

He is an independent politician and currently identifies with the Vermont Progressive Party. He was born in Brooklyn, New York and attended the University of Chicago.

IMMIGRATION: Supports reform

“There is no question we need to strengthen our borders to protect national security and prevent illegal immigration. We must hold employers accountable, and establish a path to citizenship for 12 million people already in the United States.” – Said in a statement issued in 2007 regarding the anti-layoff amendment.

MINIMUM WAGE: Supports a raise

Bernie Sanders co-sponsored a bill to promote a “substantial increase in federal minimum wage” and has also called on President Obama to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour.

Jeb Bush does not think there should be a federal minimum wage at all.

“I think state minimum wages are fine. The federal government shouldn’t be doing this.”
