For generations teens in America have created their own informal terms more common in speech than writing. Every year more and more slang terms become the norm, and for a school as diverse as Lane it’s

not obscure to hear these strange words. Teachers, this is what you’ve been waiting for. If you too want to be hip, cool, or fit in with the “squad” go ahead and look up any unfamiliarities in The Slangtionary.

1. bae
noun [bay]
1. significant other

2. bars
noun [barz]
1. verses in a rap that rhyme
“Kanye does not believe that Drake
has bars.”

3. bet
verb [bet]
1. to agree
2. to challenge
“Kanye responded ‘bet’ to Drake’s Words with Friends request.”

4. bounce
verb [bouns]
1. to exit a situation or a location
“Kim bounced when Kanye said North’s diaper was dirty.”

5. clutch
adjective [kluch]
1. coming through in situations of
extreme pressure
2. great, essential, convenient

when he was dashing from rowdy fans.”

6. diesel

1. to dominate someone in life, a
